WRI has been involved in several projects in the state of Oklahoma. In the past, WRI has lent its expertise to restorations projects associated with abandoned mine lands, streams impacted by development, and lake flood mitigation. WRI has orchestrated educational programs with local entities by renovating city parks.
Recently, WRI was awarded a $70,000 grant from the City of Norman, Oklahoma Conservation Commission, and The US Environmental Protection Agency to design and construct an improved stormwater corridor in NW Norman. The Brookhaven Creek Improvement Project will include training for city officials to implement these low-impact development techniques in the upcoming City of Norman Stormwater Master Plan. Newsletters for this project can be found here.
